Although our company started officially with this name in 1994 it knows its origin to many years before when Luigi Ferriggi started this business in Cospicua in the 1950’s.

At that time all the business was concentrated in Cospicua as it was a port city and the demand for ropes was very high. At first all the ropes were manufactured locally by means of the “raddiena” the Maltese word used for this man made traditional mechanism.

There was no premises to do this work and so it was done out on the street where it attracted the attention of all the children in the area who all wanted to have a go in manufacturing the rope. The rope business was one of the main sources of economy during those hard times after World War II and it employed a lot of young men who lived in the area.

As years passed the company passed from hand to hand of father and son. When Joseph Ferriggi took over in the 1960’s, he enlarged the business by buying a premises in Zejtun in which we still operate today. The importation of ropes started as different types of materials were being used for rope manufacturing. However he always kept alive the local manufacturing using the traditional way and no modern machines and this continues to this date but only on a very small scale by Jesmond Ferriggi the present owner. We can say that we are the only ropes makers on the island. We try to keep alive this beautiful craft not to become extinct.

Nowadays the business owns more warehouses which help us to always be well stocked and of good service to our clients. All the ropes are imported together with the large variety of the products which vary from hardware such as chains, shackles etc to bathroom accessories, water heaters etc. We are also the distributors of Polyplumb a water fitting line.
